Interdisciplinary Research as a Complicated System

Notwithstanding the rapidly growing body of literature on interdisciplinary research, several crucial dynamics in research systems remain poorly understood and undertheorized. To this effect we seek to provide a ‘fundamental’ ontology systems. We principally understand an system as complex consisting researchers from different disciplines that have undergone pseudomorphosis (i.e. false formation) into complicated through formation central organizing principle. The principle provides stricter definition problem subsequently coalesces intentionality agents unification their disparate aims methodologies. This is thereby associated with exchange individual freedom for organizational utility resulting internal tensions which are, argue, most prominently expressed interplay epistemic incompatibilities between disciplines. explore three frameworks successfully navigating these incompatibilities: circumvention, based avoidance areas disciplinary incompatibility; pragmatism, ignoring compatibility; synthesis involves paradigm shift researchers’ understanding propositions resolving perceived incompatibilities. It anticipated paper may be benefit organizers seeking effectively structure projects, specifically terms framing modes inquiry, structuring team.
